Minnesota's Top-Winning CitiesFollow Minnesota Lottery
Does it seem like big lottery winners are from every city except yours? We often hear comments like this from players all across the state. People in the Twin Cities area often ask why all the big winners are from small towns, and people from greater Minnesota wonder why all the big winners are from the metro area.
We thought we would try to dispel the myths and let you in on a little secret—winning happens all across Minnesota. Winners are represented in every region, county, city, and town. It doesn’t matter where you live or where you purchase your tickets. What matters is that you’re willing to take a chance.
So, in which cities have players taken a chance and it has paid off the most?
Your curiosity on this topic spiked our interest, too. We thought a good place to start would be to research the number of big winning tickets—defined as $30,000 and above—that retailers in each city have sold.
After compiling data over the last ten years (July 1, 2004–June 30, 2014), we’ve determined the top-winning cities in each region of Minnesota, along with their largest win.
